RESEARCH FOCUS: Circularity, Public Health, Education, and Sustainability Studies.
As a researcher, I employ an intersectional feminist epistemology to understand collective knowledge production, with a particular focus on community-based research outcomes that extend beyond traditional academic pathways. I possess expertise in overseeing and conducting research projects and program evaluations, utilizing methods such as participatory action research and community needs assessments.
In past research projects, I have overseen NIH (R01, R33, R21) and CDC-funded community health research initiatives at institutions including Columbia University School of Public Health, Columbia University Medical Center’s Department of Pediatrics and Adolescent Health, and CUNY School of Public Health. My work in health research has been featured in multiple public and community health journals. My portfolio includes the evaluation of male-centered teen pregnancy prevention campaigns, analyzing adolescent attitudes on reproductive health and early romantic relationships, and supervising a team of field screeners of NYC Hanes, a New York city-wide epidemiology examination study.
Given my own bicultural identity, I particularly enjoy the richness of projects that incorporate diverse cultural perspectives. I have conducted research in both English and Spanish, focusing on Hispanic and Spanish-speaking communities. I have also supported qualitative research at The News School’s Department of Mental Health and Culture Lab, studying ethnically/culturally disparate therapist-patient dyads, The New School’s School of Social Research, and the New York University’s Psilocybin and Cancer Anxiety. I was also a fellow in the MIT Feminist Futures Hackathon, and was part of the Care Ecomomy research track.
I served as the Director of Research and Programs for The Maintainers global network. You can explore the themes, fellowships, and topics I developed in this section of my website.
Aside from designing and executing research initiatives, I am committed to translational research efforts aimed at democratizing knowledge and breaking down silos. While dissemination is important, I believe that scholarly theory must achieve real-world impact. To this end, I have developed various curricula and toolkits.
