PROJECTS: Las Marías, social justice and community initiatives




Las Marías 

 
is a bilingual Spanish-English education project composed of workshops and independent discussion groups, as well as a resource of introductory feminist materials. Our approach is grounded from intersectional theory, critical pedagogies, and transdisciplinary perspectives Our worshop saught to present complex ideas through accesible examples (eg. media literacy and pop culture debates) for young adults of all genders to promote inclusivity, cooperation, and ethics of care. 

Through this initiative, I have led workshops and collaborated with various institutions, collectives, and community organizations, including the Brooklyn Public Library, The Door, El Puente, Loisaida Center,Youth Action YouthBuild, Brooklyn Community Bail Fund, Babeland Workers Union, and Rainforest Action Network.

My contributions have been recognized through residencies and fellowships at  Clocktower Radio at Pioneer WorksMIT Feminist Futures, and Woodward Residency.

I have also served as a Steering Committee Member of the ecological regeneration community of practice Artech NatureCulture.

In my work with feminist-focused projects, I have successfully secured funding and grant awards for multiple initiatives, working closely with philanthropic funding agencies, both private and government-based. I was part of the development team for the Lower Eastside Girls Club, where I oversaw a junior board of over 80 members and successfully obtained funding for the planning and capital development of a well-being center, among other projects.
